Golden rules of knitting - departure and arrival

I truly believe that anyone can learn to knit - but as you are in your knitting projects, and therefore how inspired many of you will go to things bigger and better, is very dependent how your first attempts to turn. There are two of three simple but essential steps that will transform your final results of the satisfaction of simply sensational.

Before you begin: The needle and tension.

Once you've identified a pattern to knit, you should choose your needles and believe me, the choice of a needle that you're comfortable with makes a real difference to the experience knitting. Needles come in a mind-blowing selection of sizes and lengths and are manufactured from a variety of material. Straight, needles, metal, usually aluminum, have become the basic kit to knit and are useful for knitting of synthetic son, because they are smooth and allow your work to slide down easily. However, they can either become "sticky" or feel cold to work. The needles most modern manufactured plastic or acrylic are lightweight and very useful in larger sizes where the metal pin is equivalent to heavy use. Traditional needles Wood recently returned to popularity and are now made from a range of sustainable woods like birch, and most knitters once they have made the switch to wooden needles are reluctant to use something else. The warmth of your hands warms the wood and makes them very comfortable to work with adding the tactile experience of knitting together. Wooden needles also tend to be smooth but not too slippery are appropriate all skill levels. They are obviously more fragile than other types of needles so desperately need to be treated, but a "run" pair of wooden needles, where a natural patina was developed through use can not be beaten. With experience and as project requests, knitters require circular needles or double point-to "Knit in the round" or to distribute the weight of a larger project, like a blanket or Afghanistan, but invest in good quality wooden needles is invaluable.

While every knitter can not wait to throw on a new project (which is probably why knitters have so many WIPS: work in progress) I can not emphasize enough the importance of checking your blood pressure. While almost all models give an idea of the type number of rows / stitches in a given distance, we're all a little differently knit and it is essential to verify your blood if you do not want to end with a "Sloppy Joe" instead of a rib "skinny" jumper! Using your template or son's "Ball Band" as a guide, form a tension square of 15cm x 15cm (6 "x 6"). Tip Top; garter stitch (knit every stitch) for first three lines, then the first three points of each line to keep your curling square. If you're knitting something patterned work your square voltage in the mask to check the voltage. (This also gives you a good indication of whether you're going to like the finished or not!) Cast off and gently smooth your Swatch and your PIN to a padded surface (ie. a folded towel) making sure not to dwell on your square. Using a large pin-head as a marker, place vertically between two stitches, then using a ruler, measure 10 cm (4 inches) along the line and place another pin in the knitting. To check the line voltage, insert a rod horizontally, vertically and measure 10cm (4 ") work and the place of another. Count the points and lines between pins noting the differences in the recommended voltage. If your blood matches that you can start Knitting! However, you have more than stitches / rows than indicated, your knitting is too tight and you need to use larger needles. If you have fewer stitches, your tension is too loose and you should try smaller needles. Anyway, it's worth trying another square tension as necessary. I used to think to check the voltage not only a waste of time, but also son. I combat this by now labeling (son / pattern and details of syringes) my square voltage and they then serve as a useful reference for future projects.

She not limited to "Cast Off"

Once you have at the end of your project, it may be tempting to cast off, pin the pieces together, sew and admire. However, it is really worth taking some time during the finishing process. Tip top to cast off, if you find that your style of knitting is quite "tight", you may choose to change to a larger needle to cast off peak.

The process of "blocking", anchoring the bottom or steamed piece of knitwear (s) to standardize the sutures and allow the fibers to relax and settle into place, well worth the extra effort. While you will not need to block all the knitting, mostly clothing that can make a huge difference. You need to find a flat surface larger than the largest piece knitted, such as a spare corner of your carpet or table dining room, if you can make your own "blocking board by wrapping a piece of hard cardboard with foam, cotton towel or unwanted and then covering it with a heavy cloth and secure with clamp Pins or panel.

Most natural fibers such as wool, cotton, linen, cashmere and alpaca can be pressed or wet steam is blocked, mohair, while mixtures of wool and synthetic son does not usually respond well to steam, but may be wet blocked. I tried a variety of methods of blocking, steam immerse in water parts (heart-stoppingly scary!) Before twisting and pinning in shape, but I much prefer the softer approach next. Bringing it all together: Sewing up

Sewing machines is probably considered the most unpleasant knitting. All those annoying ends to sew, then making sure the right bits (and the right sides) are, together, can be particularly boring - but again, taking that bit of extra time pays dividends. There are two main points used for sewing up, back stitch and blanket point. Back mesh provides an ideal good solid sewing curves and horizontal seams as around armholes and along the shoulders. Mattress stitch is a very careful assembly to the side seams and seams that do not require too much elasticity. If the pieces are properly blocked, pinning the whole should be a lot easier - Use lots of pins and ease in the fullness as you go. On a sweater or jacket you with traditional will generally run one or two shoulder seams together, working round the neck, sew the sleeves up and then finish by sewing on the side and sleeve seams. Use the same wire that you used to knit the garment (not always possible with some novelty or specialty wire in this case, you must choose a smooth wire in a proper color match). Secure your son by working two stitches back near the edge of fashion and work your way along the seam using your chosen point, drawing the yarn firmly, but without folding, and check the right side of garment you go. Finally, press the seams sewn using the following methods. Place a clean, damp tea on the seams (clothing must be outwards) and using a gentle heat, press the seams with your iron, lifting the iron on and off the fabric rather than using a slide. Alternatively, spray the seam inside the garment and press to flatten your finger and let dry naturally. Supporting seams sewn on the "fixed" the sewing stitches and helps prevent the yarn to work for free.
