Ao Dai - Vietnamese Declaration Plus size fashion
For exotic looks, ethnic fashion are other alternatives for women size more. By example, the ao dai (pronounced "ow zai" in North Vietnam and, "ow yai" in South Vietnam), the national dress of Vietnam, has a style that looks fabulous on almost everyone. It consists of two elements: a long tunic with a fitted bodice, mandarin collar, raglan sleeves and side slits that create panels front and rear of the belt down and wide legged pants, often cut on the bias.
Whereas in the distant past men and women wore the ao dai, the twenty-first century, it is almost exclusively a women's clothing. While the Ao dai is now seen as symbolizing the identity traditional Vietnamese and femininity, it in fact has a relatively short history marked by foreign influence. The ao dai is a striking example of how the Vietnamese have responded to both Chinese and French by adoption of the colonization of elements of foreign cultures and change uniquely Vietnamese. Before the fifteenth century, Vietnamese women typically wore a skirt and halter top. These are sometimes covered by a coat open neck (AO you think) with four panels, both linked to or tied at the waist. women's clothing were brown or black, accented by brightly colored tops or belts on special occasions.
From 1407 to 1428, China's Ming Dynasty occupied Vietnam and forced women to bring to the Chinese pants. After regaining independence, Vietnam, The Dynasty (1428-1788) has also criticized women's clothing for violating Confucian standards of decorum. Given that policies have been applied at random, and skirts and halter tops remained the norm.
During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Vietnam was divided into two regions, with the Nguyen royal family south. To distinguish the subjects of northerners, Nguyen lords ordered men and women from the south to wear Chinese-style trousers and long-term, before buttoning tunics. After the Nguyen family has taken control over the country in 1802, the conservative Confucian Emperor Minh Mang banned women's skirts for aesthetic and moral.
In Over the next century, precursors of the modern Ao dai became popular in the cities, the royal court in Hue, and for holidays and celebrations the campaign. The costume consisted mainly of loose trousers and a shirt with a collar and a diagonal closure that ran along the side right neck to the armpit, with some regional variations. These characteristics of CAD AO were copied from Chinese and Manchu garments. The upper classes often layered several ao dai of different colors, with the neck left open to display the layers. Among the peasants and workers, however, skirt (VA) and sunbathing top (YEM) remained popular for everyday use.
During the 1930s the artist Hanoi Nguyen Tuong Cat, also known as the Lemur, presented ao dai styles inspired by French fashion. He designed their light color, fitting tunics featured longer panels, sleeves Puff, asymmetrical lace collars, buttoned cuffs, scalloped hems, and darts at the waist and chest. Lemur's Europeanized pants were white with flared hips perfectly suited. Criticized by conservatives, Lemur's designs nonetheless marked the materialization of contemporary ao dai blending traditional Vietnamese elements with Western tailoring and bodily aesthetics.
French colonialism ended in 1954 with the division of Vietnam into North and South. In North Vietnam,
Communist leaders criticized the ao dai as bourgeois, colonial, and impractical for manual labor, although women continued to wear for special occasions.
When the Ao dai fell into disfavor in socialist Viet Nam, the Vietnamese who had immigrated to the United States, Canada, Australia or France, it retains as a symbol of their ethnic heritage. Ao dai have was observed at fashion shows, Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations, weddings and music performances throughout the Vietnamese communities world, which had about 2.6 million in 2006.
Meanwhile, in capitalist South Vietnam, changes of clothing continues. Madame Nhu the sister-brother President Ngo Dinh Diem, became famous in the 1950s and 1960s for the very plunging neckline of her tunic.
In 1975, the War Vietnam ended with the reunification of North and South under communist rule. The leaders ridiculed the south ao dai as decadent and promoted simpler styles clothing practices. But the austerity was short-lived. In the 1990s, economic reforms and improvement of life leads a resumption of the ao dai in Vietnam and the international growth of awareness of it as a symbol of Vietnamese identity. In 1989, the newspaper Women in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) hosted the first Miss Ao Dai contest. Six years later, Miss Vietnam blue brocade ao dai won the Best National Costume at Miss Pageant Tokyo International. Simple white ao dai have been reinstated in many cities and towns as uniforms for female high students, while Vietnam Airlines staff to wear red ao dai.
The ao dai has also inspired non-Asian designers. Following 1992 films "Indochine" and "The Lover", both in the French colonial period, Ralph Lauren, Richard Tyler, Claude Montana, and Giorgio Armani presented ao dai collections of inspiration. While the "Indo-Chic" fashions can be Orientalist in their celebration of a wise, sexy and exotic Vietnamese femininity, they are generally welcomed in Vietnam as evidence that the Ao dai has entered the canon of international fashion.
Some current designers employ new fabrics, abstract motifs, and models from ethnic minorities, while others modify the tunic by opening necklines, by removing the sleeves, or replacing the long panels with fringe. The once scandalous white pants now seem outmoded, and women instead favor pants of the same color as the tunic.
Thus, the ao dia has an interesting history. But with the selection of materials and cuts, the ao dai allows the Women's plus size fashion sensitive to the trendy and fabulous throughout the year and special occasions.
